Well scavenjas, or is it squirrel friends? I’m not sure…what I am sure of is that there is a new game starting today just before lunch time that will rock you and your pet’s socks!  That’s right, you and your furry friend can play this upcoming 2 week game.  Don’t worry, if you don’t have any pets you’ll still be able to play!  We’re all looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Howdy everyone!

We’ve got a new game up on our website with some great prizes, incuding a vacation from Hahn’s Travel for the winner and Truffles By Anna for the second place finisher. We’ve also added some new features and made some changes to the site’s design, including:

• usernames link to profile pages everywhere they appear
• link back to goal page from submissions on player profile
• new leaderboard formats
  • home page contains leaders in creatitivity points and all-time points, in addition to the most recent submissions
  • Individual leaderboards for each game can be found on the game pages
• leaderboards contains thumbnail of most recent submission for each user
• sponsor graphics moved above leaderboard
• players can delete pictures from the goal pages
• improved handling of current and past games on the home page

As always, we welcome your feedback on this changes. We still have a long ways to go on implementing some more robust features (uploading from your cell phone, email submissions, etc) but just know that we’re working on new things each day.

Today is a big day for Scavenja. First, shout outs to all the teams that participated in RTP Startup Weekend, which was discussed in a CNBC segment earlier today and will be featured in a different one later today (4pm Eastern Time if anyone’s watching).

We rolled out a new game today - “This is no longer a vacation. this is a quest. Sponsored by Hahn’s Travel.” Hopefully that gives you at least a hint about what the prize for this game will be. So now we have two games going on at the same time.

We’re also excited about some new features we released today. We’ve been listening to what you’ve been saying about the games and getting your feedback to improve (hopefully) the game play experience. Today we implemented a few things:

• Ability to click on thumbnails of pictures so you can see bigger sizes
• Comments so you can engage in squirrel talk and let people know what you think about their pics
• Voting system to give bonus points for creativity. So even if you aren’t one of the first to submit you still can score a lot of points if you’re creative
• Added a second leaderboard for our new game
• Added minimum points levels for past goals, so they don’t go down to zero
• Ability to click on a player’s name (leaderboard only right now) and see all their past submissions

We’d love to hear what you think about these features. If you have any ideas for other features definitely let us know! We will be making many more improvements to the site and game so stay tuned…

Scavenja: The Photo-Based Scavenger Hunt

• One of 4 Startups that originated from RTP Startup Weekend

The Basics:

• Scavenja is a photo-based scavenger hunt
• Individual games challenge players to complete thematically connected goals
• Players post pictures to document completed goals, and goals are awarded points based on difficulty level
• Gameplay combines social interaction with competition and prizes are awarded to top players.
• Target audiences can include multiple demographics because games can be designed to appeal to various interests
• Sponsorship can be integrated into the games to generate revenue and provide a unique and memorable brand experience for players

Gameplay Details:

• Each game has 10 goals for players to complete
• A new goal is released almost every day (sometimes more than once per day), and goals are awarded points based on their difficulty
• At Startup, most games will last two weeks
• The faster you can complete the goals, the more points you accumulate
• The player with the most points wins. Winners receive prizes and Scavenja notoriety
